How internal marks are awarded in KTU ? (2015 Batch)

In APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (Initially Kerala Technological University)- KTU, Internal mark are mainly awarded to the students through internal exams, practicals, assignments , seminars and projects.

Internal Mark Pattern

The Total marks for a particular Theory course or subject is 150 and the total marks for a laboratory, practical or workshop course is 100.

a) For theory courses (Total-150): –

The maximum marks for internal evaluation: 50
The maximum marks for end semester examination: 100

b) For Laboratory /Practical /Workshop courses (Total-100):-

i) Practical records /Outputs – 60 marks (Internally by the College)
ii) Regular class Viva – 10 marks (Internally by the College)
iii) Final practical exam – 30 marks (Internally by the College)

Internal Evaluation Marks are provided on the basis of the following (40+10)

• 2 Internal Exams :- Two internal exams should be conducted by the college in each semester. These internal exams should be for 40 marks in total (20+20) and should last for 1 hour each.
• Tutorials or Assignments or Mini Projects or Seminar carrying 10 marks.

Students Should Aquire at least 45% in each course or subject to pass in the internals. 45 percent or 45% is the cut off in each course to register that subject for the end semester examination.

A student will become failed due to eligibility (FE) if he or she couldn’t attain 45 percent in the internal mark or if he or she couldn’t get the minimum eligible attendance per each course or subjects.  In order to earn the credits, being eligible and getting pass percentage in the end semester exam is a must. The final grading and credits will be awarded only after the completion of the same.
